He’s been in the league nine years and been selected for the all-pro team four times, but Darrelle Revis has never played in a Super Bowl before.

Sports greatness is usually measured in greatness, but as a future hall of famer Revis joins a list of greats that didn’t have great success in the big game.

Dan Marino played 17 years in the league but never once won a Super Bowl championship, Jim Kelly was in the big game four years in a row but never won, even John Elway played the first 15 years of his career before winning his first title.

“Everybody asks me what it feels like to be a Super Bowl champion and it’s something that you can’t really put into words,” Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork said.

Tom Brady has been in the league for 15 years and has three rings, Wilfork got to hoist the Lombardi Trophy his rookie year and Revis said he hopes he can do the same this year.

“It’s tough to get to this point, it really is. When you’ve failed in the past you know you were that close but it’s still so far away,” Revis said. “Actually getting here is pretty awesome but to win it, man that would be mind blowing,”

Early in his career with the New York Jets Revis was in back-to-back AFC Championships games, but they couldn’t seem to pull put a win in either.

“I always tell people it’s the feeling you have after being able to win this game, that’s what you’re searching for,” Wilfork said.

“I think the longer you play, obviously it means so much more because there are so many ups and downs this year,” Patriots safety Devin McCourty said.

“That’s one of our team goals, it would be great because we’ve worked so hard this year,” Revis said.
