Ryan Lochte , an eleven-time Olympic medalist in swimming, is going for his fourth Olympics games this August.
The 31-year old native of Rochester, New York currently holds the world record in the 100-meter individual medley, 200-meter individual medley, and the 400-meter individual medley.
Lochte, who moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, two years ago to train with a new coach, says he is ready for Rio.
"My body, I know there are certain things that i am doing to take care of myself outside of the pool to help me recover, so I do have better practices during the day, waking up everyday so I am taking care of my nutrition that’s probably one of the biggest things I was doing, I switched to Charlotte, North Carolina so i am training there now with a different coach and it’s really been good for the past two years now,” said Lochte.
"I am shooting for Rio and I hope to be on the podium wearing a gold medal. You just don’t know how many times and what event."
"The excitement level is still there. I mean it’s the Olympics, you are going to the Olympics to represent your country, that’s pretty amazing, that in itself is just excitement right there but you know me personally, I treat every swim meet, every Olympics, the exact same ever since I was 8 years old, just a little kid getting on those blocks and just having fun, doing what I loved to do."
"My mind set and you know, getting on those blocks and trey to put my hand on the wall first, my laid-back go-lucky self still gonna be there but I am definitely… i think I am more determined and I know that I’ve been putting the work in and doing things outside of the pool that had been helping me."
"I am determined. You know, I set goals and I won’t stop until I reach those goals and then if I do reach those goals, I am gonna go back and reach higher goals. I am really driven and my love for my family is everything, so between those things I feel like I can conquer the world."
