BOSTON (WHDH) - Local Olympian Aly Raisman was welcomed home by Boston Friday as she threw out the first pitch before the Red Sox game.
Needham native Raisman was escorted to the mound by David Ortiz before the game against the Kansas City Royals. Ortiz wore Raisman’s three medals as she pitched to home plate. Raisman said she was not nervous to throw out the first pitch, saying it was nothing compared to the pressure of the Olympics.
Raisman won a gold and two silvers at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The gold was awarded to the United States’ “Final Five” gymnastics team that Raisman captained.
But first @Aly_Raisman had to give Big Papi @davidortiz a few gold medals to hold, that's all pic.twitter.com/hEDWVHj9jH
