DORCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) — Members of the New England Patriots and mascot Pat Patriot visited a Dorchester school Tuesday for the annual “Hometown Huddle.”
The event was co-hosted by the United Way. Matthew Slater, Jabaal Sheard and Jordan Richards helped clean up the outdoor areas at the Sarah Greenwood Elementary School. They also played outside with students, as part of the NFL’s “Play 60” fitness initiative.
“I want these kids definitely to have hope for their future and have a vision for themselves as they go throughout school and be working towards something,” said Slater. “Have a goal and no dream is too big to dream and I hope they understand that as young people and the future is theirs.”
The Patriots Charitable Foundation also presented the school with a check for $5,000 to help buy equipment for its physical education program.
