CLEVELAND (WHDH) — The Red Sox playoff push begins Thursday as they face their former manager Terry Francona and the Cleveland Indians.

The Sox are in Ohio and spent Wednesday at Progressive Field for their workout and batting practice. Rick Porcello will be the starting pitcher for the Red Sox Thursday night. Porcello led the league with 22 wins this season.

“I think he’s matured as a pitcher to understand where his strengths are, how he’s able to minimize damage inside of an inning, so it comes down to him executing a pretty specific game plan that has played itself out over six months,” said Red Sox Manager John Farrell.

The Red Sox are facing big competition, as Cleveland had one of the best home records in the league this season.
