FORT MYERS, Fla. (WHDH) – Red Sox position players joined in on the fun at Fenway South Monday, with the team holding its first official full-squad workout of spring training.

All eyes were on new player Alex Bregman — specifically, what position he would be playing.

Bregman began the day working out at third base. That’s the position in which he won his first career Gold Glove last season.

It is also the position manned in Boston by Rafael Devers for the better part of the last eight seasons. So, it remains to be seen how things shake out at the hot corner.

But Devers made it clear that he has no interest in being the designated hitter or moving to play first base.

“Third base is my position, it’s what I’ve played — I don’t know what their plans are, like I know we had a conversation, I made it clear kind of what my desires were, and yeah, whatever happens from here, I don’t know,” Devers said through an interpreter.

When asked how he would react if he was asked to be designated hitter, Devers had a one-word answer.

“No,” he said.
