BOSTON (WHDH) - The Red Sox will retire the number of Hall of Famer Wade Boggs on May 26th.

The third baseman played eleven seasons from the Red Sox. Boggs’ career batting average was a whopping .328 and he hit above .300 for 10 consecutive seasons for the Sox.

Boggs was voted to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.

The ceremony will be the climax of “Homecoming Week” for the Sox, which begins with the team’s Hall of Fame dinner honoring the class of 2016 which includes inductees Tim Wakefield, Larry Lucchino, Jason Varitek, and Ira Flagstead.
