A new study reveals women are more likely to be admitted to the hospital after an asthma-related ER visit.

Researchers followed 2,000 patients who were seen in the emergency room for acute asthma.

They found women were 60 percent more likely to be hospitalized after their ER visit than men.

Many of the people in the study had poorly controlled asthma and only 10 percent of women had seen an allergist in the last year.
