The national tour of The Sound of Music is in town, and while the cast and crew moved into the theater, 7News’ Sarah French got a chance to go back stage in Boston.
Local actress Andrea Ross of Franklin, has several different roles in the show.
Ross gave us a look at some of the costumes created to transport the audience back in time, including their authentic Austrian dirndls.
Kerstin Anderson, who plays Maria, grew up in Burlington, Vermont.
One of her favorite things? Visiting the Von Trapp Family Lodge, where the real life Von Trapps settled after leaving Austria in 1939.
"I’ve been a whole bunch of times and I went after I found out that I was cast too. I was like ‘I have to go again! I have to!’ so I made the trek," said Anderson.
But the cast isn’t the only thing that ties the show to New England.
The song, "Edelweiss" was written in Boston.
Ben Davis, who plays Captain Von Trapp, says it’s an honor to perform the beloved song so close to where it was created.
The cast and crew will say "So long" to Boston this Sunday.
