(WHDH) — It wasn’t your typical 9-1-1 call — and not your typical emergency.
9-year-old Billy had a kid’s emergency: He wanted someone to play with.
So two deputies with the Walton County Sheriff’s Department went to Billy’s home. They let him sit in the driver’s seat of a patrol car and let him play with all the bells and whistles.
Billy, of course, wants to grow up to be a police officer.
We spoke with Deputy Aaron Ethridge this afternoon, who said they gave Billy a badge and happily posed in pictures with him.
Ethridge says they normally deal with people on their worst days, and this was a welcome change. And Billy wasn’t the only one who walked away with a hulk-sized smile.
“Oh it made our day as well,” Ethridge said. “We had some units come in later and that was the first thing we told them about.

The sheriff’s department says that while the encounter was heartwarming, they do encourage people to only use 9-1-1 for emergencies.
