First two days of June and our temps are running way below normal. In fact, each of the past two afternoons, the high temp in Boston has not reached 50—cold enough for a record (a record in the sense of a cold high temp versus the more common warm high temp). Not cool. The reason for the April-like temps has been the beneficial rain (most towns 2-3″ of rain since Sunday) as well as a chilly northeast wind. That northeast wind is death for warm air anytime of year and can send peeps into a tizzy when it occurs in the warm season.

The good news is we got rid of the rain and will get the sunshine back but despite the sun coming back, those temps will still run cool, just not embarrassingly so. I think most towns away from the coast reach the mid 60s and along the coast plan on temps running in the upper 50s–more like early May than early June. Tomorrow offers similar weather…sun & clouds vying for your attention as temps reach 70 by afternoon. Couple of nice days ahead!

Friday gets a bit tricky as our old friend from these past few days (now a stationary front lurking south of New England) tries to make a return. If so it would mean more rain but ironically enough, another front dropping in from Canada will help us out by sweeping that system–and its rain–out to sea. Friday will offer a lot of clouds & perhaps a sprinkle but that’s about it. The weekend is looking sunny albeit a little cool with temps both days in the 60s (low 70s inland on Saturday). I’m cool with that.
