Extremes make up the means—it’s words that meteorologists live by (and statisticians too) and no better place to see that than New England. Last week, Boston–for two days mind you—had temps stuck in the upper 40s and for the next two days I think the metro will reach the upper 80s! The reason for the extreme weather here in New England is simply wind direction. Last week that wind was blowing off the ice cube–err—ocean and this week the general wind direction has been from Ohio/Pennsylvania. #Warm.
Even though we will have temps flirting with 90 I think most towns will escape the risk of any late day showers/thunderstorms. The main reason is the air way up high in the sky is too dry for clouds to form & grow into storms. The only areas that has a slight risk of an afternoon shower/storm will be CT/RI as well as southeast MA (along & south of Rt.44). Overall, a warm late spring day on tap for the region.
Looking ahead into Friday-weekend, I’ll tackle the easy stuff first–both Friday and Sunday. Sunshine with hot weather tomorrow (upper 80s) and mild weather Sunday (low 80s). Saturday is a bit tricky with a weak cool front on the map. This front will likely spark some scattered showers during the morning hours then drier weather takes hold by afternoon. Keep your outdoor plans in place for Saturday—if those plans are for the beaches, then focus on metro Boston beaches & north as clouds will linger all day along the South Coast/South Shore/Cape.
Enjoy!
