A pre-natal test done on pregnant women may also be able to identify early stage cancer in mothers-to-be.

Researchers in Belgium said the blood test is done to detect Down Syndrome in a developing fetus. Genetic abnormalities found in three women who took the test later revealed they had early-stage cancer.

Doctors said this could one day lead to non-invasive cancer screenings.
