It’s been another gorgeous, summer-like day.  When Friday’s are this nice – some of us tend to start to feel a little ill, *cough cough* – because we might be coming down with something, *cough cough* – It could be really contagious… and you’ll probably have to leave work early today to *ahem* get the weekend started right away!… er, I mean the healing process *sneeze.*  All joking aside, there is an incredible weekend ahead of us.

First things first though, I am tracking a few storms this evening.  All of this action – currently (5:30pm) well to our west – is due to a cold front that will sweep through overnight (not really affecting our summer-like temps all that much, so don’t worry).  When it comes to thunderstorms, it takes all of the right ingredients to come together at the same place and time.  Speaking very generally; you need lift, moisture and instability for storms to fire.  If you have two of the three – no can do…

Those ingredients are coming together tonight with the help from that cold front – but that action will be staying to the NW of 495.  That’s why I think that Boston will stay out of the storms tonight, and just get some showers in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.  By the time the front reaches 495, the storms will lose steam in the overnight hours and we end up with just showers – no show.

How about some even better news?  Those showers are out of the picture by about 8am.  I know weekends are for sleeping in – So, if you’re like me, you’ll miss the showers completely.  Clearing follows those scattered showers and we get partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies for the rest of the weekend!

As I mentioned, the cold front won’t take away our summer-like temps.  However, the coast/Cape will be a little cooler for the weekend due to a sea breeze.  Still not bad though.  We’re back into the low 80s for the interior, and coastal areas will be in the 70s.

Our next round of showers will arrive by mid-day Monday.  So, if your lawn doesn’t get a drink tonight, there’s another shot at some thirst quenching for the greenery on Monday and into Tuesday.

But really… Can we just enjoy the weekend already??  I’m with you!  – Breezy
