(GEORGIA) — Hurricane Matthew is now a category one hurricane.

It is still packing winds of 85 miles and hour and still moving to the northeast at 12 miles an hour.

It has already made a significant impact in the south.

The outer bands of Matthew also lashed the city of Savannah, Georgia.

Police there enforced a dusk to dawn curfew overnight.

The storm has threatened the cities historic homes.

Half a million people on the Georgia coast have evacuated not knowing when they might be bale to return.
