Lightweight boxer Carlos Balderas is going to his first ever Olympic games this august.
The 19-year old from Santa Maria, California is a first-generation Mexican-American who became the first athlete to make the 2016 U.S Olympic team last November.
He doesn’t have to participate in Olympic team trials because he won a series of matches in 2015 that earned him this prestigious spot.
Balderas says he owes his success to his family.
