It’s a little ironic that right after Memorial Day Weekend (which is considered by many as the “unofficial start to summer”) summer-like heat took a back seat, and the spring we skipped decided to move back in for June. It’s been a slow go with the kick-off of summer. The first 5 days of June didn’t even make it up to 60° in Boston. I guess you could say I’m a little used to June looking this way. Having gone to San Diego State University (go Aztecs!) we always knew that “May Gray” and “June Gloom” were an inevitable start to summer. Well, many of us here in New England have been feeling that “gloom” of June, and hoping for warmer weather.
I may not be able to give you the good news of heat for the beach tomorrow, but I can tell you about the bright sunshine we’re in store for (don’t forget the sunscreen!). It’s only appropriate: Sun for Sunday and that’s what we’ll have. Temps tomorrow will be very similar to highs today: Low 60s for the coast, and low 70s inland. If you’re not a fan of these seasonable temps, don’t worry… Summer is back by the middle of the week.
Clouds don’t come back into the mix until Monday – but this is when another front will move through bringing scattered showers to the area through Tuesday. We could hear some rumbles of thunder with this, but nothing we’ll be lighting the lanterns for (“One if by land, and two if by sea!”). It looks like more of an annoyance than anything. Shouldn’t be a washout that would ruin any ball-games or cookouts. *Fingers Crossed*
While Tuesday will start out a little wet, it looks like it’s the beginning of the warm-up we’ve been waiting for since May ended. Temps could get close to 80 for highs, and the climb to near 90 continues through the end of the week. While the temps increase, so will the humidity. Things could get a little sticky, especially on Thursday… and because of that (hot and humid) we’ll also be watching for T-storms on Thursday. Thunder-boomers this week look most likely on Thursday. We’ll see about lighting those lanterns, but we’ll wait until we’re closer to the date.
For now, enjoy the sunshine tomorrow! It may be a touch cool at the beach, but I’ve been taking note of how New Englanders dress! A true New Englander leaves the house prepared for all types of weather; Sperrys, shorts, polo shirt and water-proof jacket. Sound about right? Well, that’s how I’ve been dressing lately, anyway. :c) – Breezy
