I guess yesterday’s weather was just a fluke.  Just like I said tonight on air:  “The 60s are out and the 80s are in!” and I don’t mean pack away the bell bottoms and break out the crimper… although it’s a funny visual.  I mean, 64° for a high to kick off Memorial Day Weekend was just a flash in a pan. We’re really in for the heat to stick around from here on out – through this entire week.

A warm front moves through tonight and that will make our weather stream in from the SW starting tomorrow.  Despite the clouds we’re expecting tomorrow, it really will take a day or so to moisten up the atmosphere enough to have a better chance of showers.  Memorial Day starts out with sunshine and rapidly warming temps, and then the clouds thicken up for the afternoon.  It shouldn’t be an issue though, because as I just mentioned, there shouldn’t be any raining on our Memorial Day parades.  Temps will still be warm (upper 70s to 80), it just won’t be as bright as today.  No big deal.  In fact, the clouds may even do us a favor tomorrow – taking the UV index down to around 5, which will keep beach-goers from burning too quickly.

Tuesday is when things will start to feel sticky, and the humidity will literally stick around for the remainder of the week.  Actually I’d like to take back my “break out the crimper” statement from earlier in this blog.  We really won’t need any hot tools to make our hair frizz out like the pop-star Tiffany; the heat and humidity alone will do the trick. I thought last night that we would see temps peak at around 90° on Wednesday, but my thinking tonight is that Tuesday could be our warmest day.  I’m not as confident that we’ll really break into that 90° range this time around.  It would be possible on Wednesday if we didn’t have the clouds hanging around.  Still, it’s not out of the question… it just doesn’t look likely at this point.

From Wednesday through Saturday most of the ingredients are in place for pop up thunderstorms.  The potential is there each day.  We’ll be keeping a close eye on this, of course.  Though, at this point it doesn’t look like we’re expecting anything in the severe category.  Again – still something to watch.

Looking forward to next weekend, I’m seeing some rain down the pipeline… Sunday could be our relief from the heat as a cold front moves through and maybe turns on the shower head for our very thirsty soil.  I’m keeping my irrigatin’ boots on standby, even if it’s just for superstitious/wishful thinking.

Enjoy your day tomorrow.  Thank a veteran – or two.  Remember why we celebrate this day each year and really take it in, even if only for a moment.  Be safe and be well!  Oh, and also bring along the sunscreen.   – Breezy
