Brrr… Remember temps in the 30s? It’s a chilly start for some this morning (SE Mass, and far NW) with temps in the mid to upper 30s. Last night, Pete mentioned patchy frost this morning and it’s out there. Though, if you didn’t protect those plants last night, this shouldn’t be enough to take them out completely. Tomorrow morning could be very similar, so if you didn’t bring the fragile greenery in last night, tonight you might remember to. I always say, “Plan for the worst and hope for the best!” which is just another way of saying, “Better to be safe than sorry!”
We had almost forgotten what spring is supposed to feel like, having shot straight through to summer-like weather for the past couple of weeks. If you were missing spring, don’t worry! More seasonable temps are back in the forecast. Also, it’s important to note that when I said “seasonable,” I don’t mean you can sprinkle our highs with salt, pepper and garlic. By “seasonable,” I mean “more like what we should expect for the time of year.” Not as tasty, but still very enjoyable.
High pressure keeps us dry through the day today, and to start off Friday. Oh, you liked the weather yesterday? You’ll love today as well. Temps will warm quickly into the 60s, and highs will top out around 70° for most. The only exception to this is that, as usual, we will have a sea breeze that knocks down coastal temps in the afternoon. No worries though, it’ll still be a beautiful day for everyone.
We know we’ve had summer-like temps, but we’ve also had summer-like dry-ness. Precip has been meager lately. Have you noticed? Boston is more than 4″ below normal for this time of year, and Worcester is more than 4.5″. Ouch. We need a few good soakers to make a dent in that deficit – and the showers we’re expecting this weekend just won’t cut it. Clouds move in on Friday afternoon, and scattered showers will work through early Saturday. It looks like it’s only about 0.25″ for most. Barely even a “spritz.”
Weekend golf? No problem. Beach days? Eh… Too cool for swimming. Grilling steaks for Sunday supper? Invitation, please. Enjoy your Thursday! – Breezy
