“Don’t you control the weather? Can’t you do anything about this?”… it’s what I jokingly hear often, but often times I wish it were true. Sorry dads, I’m only the messenger on this one.
Before we delve into the details about the Father’s Day forecast, let’s enjoy today! If today is the day you booked a tee time with dad, or plan to throw some steaks on the grill, I’ll give you two thumbs up for that. While we start comfortably cool this morning, we’ll quickly warm through the 60s, into the 70s. Mid to upper 70s that is inland. Along the coast, we’ll hold in the 65-70 range as onshore winds keep it a bit cooler there. Clouds do thicken later today, foreshadowing the rain to come.
Scattered showers move in overnight, especially after midnight, but the most consistent rain waits until tomorrow morning as we track moisture from Tropical Depression Bill. A good slug of tropical moisture slides through tomorrow morning into the lunchtime hour, with downpours likely at times from 8am-1pm, especially south of the Mass Pike. North of the Pike, downpours may not be as numerous. Where we catch a few downpours, a quick 1-2″ of rain falls, creating localized street flooding, but river flooding is not expected. If you do have cookout plans with dad, I do think the afternoon shows some improvements with showers becoming fewer and farther between during the mid to late afternoon hours. The exception to that will be the Cape, where showers linger into the mid afternoon.
Monday features a few scattered showers amid many dry hours and Tuesday has the risk of a few afternoon thunderstorms before Wednesday is a beauty with low humidity and sun.
Enjoy the weekend and Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there.
