Warmest day of the week today as highs soared to the low 80s – even at the coast. Hope you made it to the beach, because the next two days are no so beach-worthy.
Watching a spinning area of low pressure – that was once Bill – spin through Southern Illinois as it navigates the Ohio Valley tonight and tomorrow. While we never really get hit between the eyes with this weather system, we’re still close enough to the fire to get burned. Showers will come to us first tomorrow night, then the sky opens up early Sunday.
Ol’ Bill will team up with a warm front to douse us with rain. All told, up to an inch to an inch and a half is possible area wide, with a few dowpours possibly tipping the scale a little higher. It may seem like washout-city all day, but depending on the speed of this system, we could dry out the afternoon hours on Sunday – or even see some dimly visible sun. I’m not totally sold on this, so let’s see how it evolves through tomorrow. Even if the rain stops, the clouds have the upper hand.
Dear old dad will have to either binge-watch or sleep in on Sunday, but if we have to go down on a wet weekend day, we might as well make a good dent in the drought.
Make it a good weekend. And happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
