Few beach bums I know – OK, my daughter and her friends – said today was perhaps the best beach day of summer. Glad they enjoyed it while everyone else toiled away in the salt mines.
OK, if you were like me, you were still able to enjoy the first part of the day at least. Sun was brilliant and the humidity low. Stark contrast to the coming 4-5 days.
It’s been hard to get a feel for the summer so far (which started June 1st meteorologically). We’ve had cool weeks, we’ve had warm weeks. We’ve had beautiful days and we’ve had stinkers. Clearly a long term pattern has not been established.
The next hit we’ll take is this weekend as a storm – yes, a full-fledged weather system that we typically get in fall and spring – comes barreling into New England. It will have a few components to it, including severe weather on one side and cool, windswept rain on the other.
I’ll give you two guesses as to which one we get Sunday. Yep. I’m “optimistically” going for the low 60s on that particular day, but know full-well that we could end up in the 50s. It’s looking like that kind of day.
Plenty more of summer left to turn things around, but this schizophrenic weather pattern needs to lock down at some point.
