CAMBRIDGE, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say a tractor trailer truck got stuck in a section of road from Smugglers Notch Resort in Cambridge for about four hours before getting assistance.

The narrow pass through the Green Mountains, route 108 South, was reopened at about 1 a.m. Friday

Police said the driver was unable to back down on his own and a wrecker service was called and assisted with Stowe police to back the vehicle down on the Stowe side.

As of July 1, truckers who got stuck in the notch have been subject to fines of up to $2,000 for a first offense.

The operator, identified as 53-year-old Genardo Valdes of Miami, was issued about $3,500 in violations. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
