Our pattern remains dry and while we need rain (down ~5″ since March 1st) I do find myself rooting against that rain as we inch closer & closer to the unofficial start to summah! There is one storm that will bring some of you light rain late tonight. That storm is sliding through Virginia right now–in fact, it’s actually tossing some clouds up into New England as I blog and those clouds will share the sky with El Sol throughout the day. Overnight, the storm scoots well south of New England but will be close enough to the Cape/Islands late tonight when a band of rain slides across the Cape (plan on .20″ or less on the Cape overnight). There may even be some sprinkles up into metro Boston late tonight but this is essentially a miss. A cool front drops through New England tomorrow afternoon and that front may pop an isolated shower late in the day but once again it’s essentially a miss for most cities & towns.
That cool front will deliver some chilly air into New England for Saturday. Morning temps are likely to be in the mid & upper 30s (mid 40s in Boston) and then reach the low 60s by afternoon (only in the 50s up across central/northern New England!) The cool bubble of air is dry though so plan on a ton of sunshine. Sunday continues the sunshine but we add some warmth with most towns well into the 70s. The chilly ocean will keep those beach temps in the upper 60s. For Memorial Day, a warm front advances into New England by afternoon with clouds–but still dry. Temps on Monday are much like Sunday.
The risk of showers & storms will be around early Tuesday as that front marches through New England. I can root for rain by then.
