Bishop’s Mediterranean shows us how to make falafel in the 7News Web Extra!
Falafel:
Put dry chic peas about 2 cups in a big bowl.
fill the bowl with water (not all the way to the top, in order to give room for chic peas to expand)
put bowl in the fridge overnight.
put the chic peas in a blender and add
1/4 chopped white onion
3 garlic gloves
2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon coriander
2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 cup tahini paste
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
blend on low or medium speed for about 5 min or until it becomes pasty.
put the paste in a big bowl and mix a 1/2 pint of freshly chopped parsley add 2 table spoon of baking powder.
mix all together.
Make about 1oz balls using your hands.
(make sure not to press hard with your hands. try to form the ball while keeping it as fluffy as you can)
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 300 degrees.
drop the balls and in the oil for about 5 min or until u see that it turned golden brown.
top it with tahini sauce.
