Well, this morning was proof that December is knocking on our door! We all woke up to some very cold temperatures – the coldest it’s been since March 23rd!!! Makes you kinda think, “Here we go,” right?
It’s been a slow recovery for temps today, but we’ll eventually get there… “there” being the mid 40s… just before the clock ticks over to midnight. But maybe you were like me and thought, “It’s chilly – but I’ve felt worse!” The two things that made this brisk Tuesday a little more bearable were 1) Light wind for much of the day – so wind chill wasn’t really a factor, and 2) The sunshine! Though, the sun did set at 4:13pm – hopefully you had an opportunity to soak in some of those rays. Our bodies actually NEED the direct sunlight to process vitamin D better – which can be a big mood booster. During these darker days of winter, I try to soak up as much sunshine as I can – and I also have one of those “happy lights” at my house for the gloomy days. Just a little tip to get you through this “solar winter.”
Mild air will work in overnight, and temps will slowly rise. Tomorrow it’s into the 50s – but like all of the mild days we’ve seen this month, it doesn’t last for long. The cold front will move through around late morning to midday, and may even bring a spot shower. Most of us stay dry, though. Temps will start to fall tomorrow afternoon as our winds change direction; from SW to NW, bringing that chilly air back into place for Thursday (low to mid 40s).
The tree at Faneuil Hall will be lit tonight around 7:30pm, and temps will be around 40°. Can’t make it? Don’t worry! We still have another tree lighting to go on Thursday, on the Common. Here’s the brisk but dry forecast for that festive event:
What once looked like a “weekend to watch” is no longer looking wild or wacky at all. Cold front looks to move through early Friday morning, bringing a few showers but then clearing out by Friday afternoon.
Hey, guess what?! You made it through what I like to call “Tuesday Loseday.” I’m always more tired on Tuesday than Monday. You know what I mean? If you don’t know what I mean, what I mean is – you’re almost to the weekday halfway point. Good luck with Wednesday. Hold onto your hats because it will be breezy. – Breezy
