Boston reached 80 degrees this afternoon, a mere 10 degrees above normal. First full day of fall quite warm but that is about to end. Check out these temps from 5pm this evening:

70s & 80s in southern New England while up in northern New England the temps are in the 50s! Might impressive to say the least and when you go from the 80s to the 50s you are likely to experience some weather. Yup, we have the clouds now and as that cold front moves through later this evening, plan on a few showers–grab the umbrella if you plan on being out & about later this evening. Most towns pick up less than .25″ but there may be some isolated downpours that drop a quick .25″ for a lucky few. Temps drop into the 60s this evening and then 50s overnight.

The weekend offers (finally?) fall weather. After some early morning clouds, mostly sunny skies are on tap for both days but despite the sunshine, the fresh (and so clean, clean) Canadian air will be too much for the sun to warm–plan on afternoon temps in the 60s. Outstanding. Sunday offers even cooler weather mainly due to the fact that morning temps will be starting lower than Saturday. Here is where I think the early Sunday Morning temps will be:

Yowza! 30s & 40s…some patchy frost possible from Plymouth out toward Norwood and up near Bedford. Boston’s temp of 48 will be the coolest since May 18th. Temps on Sunday afternoon finish in the low 60s. Another fantastic day for bike rides, apple picking, golf, and perhaps a little leaf peeping. This chilly mornings & mild afternoons will really get the colors in the trees going—it’s already happening for many of them:

The drought will affect this years foliage–more so here in southern New England than northern New England (drought more severe here than up north, out west). Over on my Facebook work page I put together a little video explaining that.

Fall has arrived—might as well make the most of it–enjoy your weekend!
