Whether you are a student, on a sales pitch, professional athlete or even Ma Nature…..it’s important to finish strong…..and I think Ma Nature finished May quite strong. Considering the first 8 days of the month featured cool, raw conditions these past few days (Sans Sunday-Monday Morning) have been very nice. We will officially end the month with above normal temps and below normal precipitation. The temps are good but the rainfall–or lack thereof–is a little bothersome. If you look at precipitation for meteorological spring (which runs from March 1st-May 31st), Boston as well as Worcester are still running sizeable deficits. It would be nice to pick up more rain–during the week of course.

The next couple of days are dry with High Pressure close by but it’s actually a little too close for warmth. Huh? Temps along the coast reached the 80s today thanks to a westerly breeze but tomorrow that breeze will be from the east with High pressure located up in Maine—that easterly breeze means Boston will run about 20 degrees cooler than today…mid 70s farther inland. Similar set-up on Thursday, a couple of nice days (albeit a little cool along the coast).

Friday is our next chance of rain but it’s not enough to wipe out that deficit I noted earlier and also not enough to think washout. Plan on a bunch of clouds with a few showers especially late morning and lasting into the first past of the afternoon. Most towns pick up less than .30″ of rain.

As of this evening, the weekend is split 50/50…..Sunshine on Saturday with the chance of some afternoon showers Sunday.
