More sunshine on this fine Taco Tuesday but it was warm inland where temps were up near 90 but once again it was a dry heat. Closer to the coast, a sea breeze kept temps in the upper 70s & low 80s. In late spring/early summer that sea breeze is refreshing but as the summer wears on the ocean temps climb, reaching the low to mid 70s for most locations. So?—Sooooo….that sea breeze now becomes a humidifier–blowing humid air in from the ocean and will do so from now until Columbus Day….no relief for you!
Over the next few days, we all see a sharp rise in humidity–regardless of distance from the ocean–thanks to a moist, southerly flow of air from the south. This humid air will also lead to an increase in clouds & showers. The first wave of clouds & showers arrives tomorrow and like before, the showers will be scattered in nature. It looks like best chance of showers occur mid morning until mid afternoon with some towns picking up close to an inch of beneficial rain with most less than .20″.
Thursday through Saturday it’s hot. Like crazy hot with temps in the low to mid 90s! Not feeling it? Welp—-it gets better as dewpoint temps will jump into the low 70s–that’s tropical and when you factor the heat & humidity, it will feel like it’s close to 100 during the afternoon hours. Meanwhile, a cool front will slowly settle into southern New England over the weekend and as it does it will pop showers & storms. Initially (Thursday & Friday) the front is too far away to pop any storms but over the weekend and early next week, that front will be close and it will generate showers, storms & downpours. This front has the potential to produce significant rain for New England. Some of you may come out of this pattern with 3-4″ of rain while most of us should get at least an inch of rain. It’s too difficult to say who gets the gold and who takes home the bronze but at least the chance is there. Let’s end this drought!
