If this is our last weekend of Meteorological Summer (it is, by the way), then our final Saturday/Sunday of “summah” couldn’t be enjoyed in more perfect weather!  Highs were in the low to mid 80s for most today, and a healthy sea breeze knocked coastal temps down into the 70s for the afternoon. With the sunshine and the low humidity, I can’t imagine a more perfect summer weekend.  Just for the record, Meteorological Summer runs from June 1st to August 31st… which means we’re coming down to those final days, and we’re in the middle of our final weekend.  Of course, there’s always Labor Day Weekend ahead of us – but will the weather be as perfect as this weekend?  I’m not so sure you can clone perfection!  :c)

If you liked today, you’ll love tomorrow!  We’re in for more of the same.  Overnight temps will be a little cooler, so take advantage of it; shut of the A/C, open the windows and let the fresh air in!  Lows will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s for most tonight – with drier air and clear skies.  Mostly sunny skies prevail through Sunday, and temps will top out in the mid 80s again for most.  Much like today, a sea breeze will develop again and bring temps along the coastline down into the 70s for the afternoon.  Perhaps you can clone perfection?  We’re going to repeat today tomorrow!

This dry weather is awesome for vacationers, and so many outdoor activities going on this weekend:  Country Fest, St. Anthony’s Feast in the North End (I should have included “a garlic breeze” in my forecast), the Red Sox are home, the Cape is still rockin’… etc.  HOWEVER, and we’ve said it many times before, we DO need the rain.  We know this.  It’s been a dry August, a dry summer, a dry YEAR.  Even back when winter was wrapping up, we were already “in the hole” in the precip department – and our lawns have been suffering ever since.  So, it’s always the BIG question when it comes to the forecast:  “Is there any rain in sight?!”  SURE!  There’s rain in sight!  It’s currently over Ohio and Lake Eerie.  Technically speaking, this rain is “in sight” because I’m looking at radar imagery…  The real question is:  “Is there any rain in store?!”  Unfortunately, not really.  It looks like the front that’s heading in our direction will be DRY for us.  Same ol’ story, different day:  Rain looks like it’s on the way… and then… NOTHING.  “Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink.”  I’ll give us a 10-20% chance that we squeak out a few isolated showers overnight tomorrow into early Monday, mainly north of the Mass Pike.  That’s about the best we can do right now.  We’ll get another shot at it come Wednesday when more showers/storms could pop… but it’s another 20% chance.  Not lookin’ good in the long term.  Sorry.

So, we continue to enjoy the benefits of dry weather by getting outside and enjoy the best of summer!  Right?!  Always look on the bright side of life.  :c)  Even though this is the last weekend of summer, summer weather wants to hang on for a little while longer.  Monday’s highs will be nearing 90° inland, and again on Wednesday it looks likely for spots to hit 90°+!  If you’re not a fan of the heat, never fear!  The countdown to fall has begun, and a fall-like feel is in store for us by the end of next week.  Highs on Friday will be in the low 70s!  Sound good?  It’ll be breezy too!  Sound awesome?  It will certainly feel like fall and may even be a bit of a shock to the system.  BUT  don’t get too used to it.  It’s likely we’re back into the 80s for next Sunday and Labor Day… and the Climate Prediction Center has issued the 8-14 day temperature outlook.  Bottom line:  Summer wants to hang on.  Enjoy your weekend!  – Breezy
