The weather was fairly quiet (but still cold) today.  Now we turn our attention to the next system down the pipeline.  The biggest concern will be during the Tuesday morning commute, as temps are still cold enough for some light snow accumulations to freezing rain in the interior – before a changeover to all rain by mid-day.  A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Worcester County and Middlesex County to give us a “heads up” for possible slick conditions:

While forecast models want to surge in the milder air and warm temps into the 40s very quickly – it usually doesn’t happen so fast.  Cold air is dense and tends to want to hang around like a couch potato.  Because of that, there could be trace amounts of ice (not a lot, but still enough to cause some travel problems) in those areas under the Winter Weather Advisory through the morning commute.

Eventually though, a SE wind off of water temps in the 40s will push that rain-snow line back to the NW.  By mid-day, all of our area is under a cold rain:

Notice the snow #s at the top of this post… not very impressive for many. However, a coating to a couple inches of snow with a brief period of freezing rain will be enough to create some slick travel across the interior tomorrow morning. Ski County will do well with this one. Many resorts pick up 10″+ up there.

Don’t get used to these temps that will be near normal – because winter has a firm grasp on us and will tighten that grip by mid-week:

Allow for some extra time for tomorrow morning!  Have a great day.  – Breezy
