What turned out to be a rainy and windy afternoon yesterday really stepped it up another level by the evening commute and early evening as embedded downpours soaked the area as winds gusted past 50mph for many. Most towns picked up between 0.50-1.00″ of rain.

Fortunately, for the morning commute, the rain is long gone. However, the wind sticks around today. The difference, the direction of the wind is out of the northwest today, which also ushers in much colder air. Temps this afternoon max out in the mid 30s in the Worcester Hills to the low 40s near the coast. Winds gust 40-50mph, with the strongest gusts 9am-3pm. A few gusts past 50mph are possible in the Worcester Hills.

Winds relax after sunset, and although there’s still a breeze around 10-20mph around kickoff at Gillette, the wind won’t be nearly as strong as what we see midday. Got tickets? Dress warm, tailgate and game temps run in the 30s with wind chills in the 20s. Hey, at least it’s dry.

Tomorrow is nice, lighter winds, gusts 10-20mph and seasonable with highs around 45.

Saturday, winds go south, gusting past 40mph in the afternoon and early evening. That’ll drag in a lot of mild air again with temps in the upper 50s. We’ll also track more wet weather as afternoon/evening showers move in. The 2nd half of the weekend is the better half as temps run in the 40s, but at least it’s dry with less wind.
