Thanksgiving week has been a treat for travelers with sunshine since the weekend! The sunshine will stay with us for today (Wednesday) and also for Thanksgiving on Thursday. And it’s not just good for travelers. Anyone hanging out close to home has a pretty nice forecast though the holiday. Sunshine is back today and tomorrow. Temperatures will top out near 50° today and while Thanksgiving is a bit cooler, there’s no wind so it’ll still be a great outdoor day.
Traveling the next few days also looks good, just don’t forget the sunglasses! The only day that will throw some showers our way is Friday. That rain chance on Friday is not a washout by any stretch — it’s just a few isolated showers. So I wouldn’t change or alter travel plans though it may add some time to your destination.
Friday morning looks dry with the showers arriving in the midday hours and then winding down by Friday evening.
Saturday might be the pick of the entire holiday week! Sun will return and temperatures will stay mild with highs climbing to, if not in, the 50s! On the flip side of the coin, Sunday might be the worst. Rain returns to the area and this rain is more significant than Friday’s rain. We could see pockets of heavier rain and also gusty winds, especially in the afternoon, evening, and overnight.
So if you’re flying, Sunday will be a day to watch. Not only will there be rain and wind at Logan Airport, but several major airports on the east coast. We’ll likely see rain in New York City, DC, and Philly. Sunday morning could also bring showers to Detroit and Chicago airports but it’s on it’s way out so most of Sunday looks dry there so hopefully keep any delays or cancelations to a minimum in the Midwest. Aside from Sunday, much of the holiday air travel looks good. The only airport to possibly keep an eye on, is Atlanta on Friday with rain moving through.
