7Weather – Happy New Year’s Eve! The past few days may have made you do a double take on the calendar. It’s been a mild end to December. Our New Year’s Eve will stay above average, but not quite as warm as yesterday with clouds around.

Today it’ll be mild in the 50s with spot showers becoming steadier rain this evening. Have the umbrella ready to go for any New Year’s Eve plans! We’re watching two moisture streams, one working it’s way through Long Island Sound will bring scattered showers for SE Mass throughout the day. This includes the South Shore, Cape/Islands and Buzzards Bay throughout the day. Off to our west, a low pressure system is working its way through the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes and this will bring the steadier rain for everyone. There’s a chance for a spot shower this afternoon closer to sunset. I think the steadier rain will develop by 5 pm continuing through evening. Around midnight, some areas could escape the showers, but still have the umbrella around. Luckily, it stays mild with a midnight temperature near 50. Another batch of showers works its way through Southern New England early Sunday morning. By sunrise Sunday, we get a wind shift and we’ll start to clear things out.

2023 starts off mild yet again! Showers should clear out by sunrise with a NW breeze developing. Mix of sun and clouds with temperatures staying in the 50s. The Patriots game will feel A LOT better than the last home game!

The start of the work week stays above average. Upper 40s/near 50 for the Winter Classic, with a mix of sun and clouds. Showery weather returns late Tuesday. We keep a chance for showers each day through Friday. Temperatures climb near 60 by Wednesday and tumble to the 30s by Friday. Friday’s wet weather could feature a mix. Stay tuned.

Happy New Year!
