BOSTON (WHDH) - Just when you think we are gaining traction with springtime warmth–BAM!—The past two days happen. Blustery & chilly weather makes a return. Thankfully, I don’t think we’ll see this kind of cold until fall. A storm moved across southern Canada Sunday Morning and in doing so, sent a chunk of cold air into New England. So cold that there were numerous reports of snow-snow showers from the Berkshires through the Longfellow Mountains in Maine and even to Caribou Maine this morning (4″ of snow fell up there!)

No snow down here around the metro but we did have a fiesty, chilly wind for much of the day with most towns seeing wind gusts at or higher than 40 mph. That wind was from the northwest (Canada) so sunshine did all it could to send our temps into the upper 50s, about 5-10 degrees below normal for this time of year.

The aforementioned storm is up in the Maritimes this evening & is beginning to pull away–taking the fall chill & strongest of the winds with it. Unfortunately, a whole new storm takes aim on New England tomorrow but this is much weaker, has milder air and is only able to serve us with a glancing blow of foul weather. Plan on more clouds around Tuesday afternoon as well as a breeze but a southwesterly breeze which will send temps into the 60s. In terms of clouds/rain, only a few sprinkles appear likely tomorrow afternoon.

Sunshine returns in full force on Wednesday & is with us for the remainder of the week.

PS….Sunset this evening is 8:00pm!—-Next time we have a sunset before 8pm is August 5th!
