Once we get through this hurdle of some scattered strong thunderstorms we are set up for some awesome weather this holiday weekend. We do have a little work to do first. A cool front is plowing into New England as I blog which has been firing off thunderstorms this afternoon across eastern New York state. This cool front also has some jet stream energy tied to it and when that wind energy passes through some of the storms, it elevates the game. It’s why we have a Tornado Watch in effect until 10pm for portions of western New England. A watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing a tornado. I think for us in eastern New England, these storms should weaken enough to preclude any tornado threat but there may be 1-2 strong or severe thunderstorms mid to late evening with the greatest concern being frequent lightning, wind gusts over 40 mph and some small hail the upshot will be some beneficial rain. The storm threat fades for all of us shortly after midnight.

Turn the page and it features sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine for the Holiday Weekend. The weekend will also feature low humidity all three days making any activity planned outside just dandy! Temps will warm throughout the weekend, near 80 tomorrow and into the upper 80s by the 4th! Looking beyond the 4th, it appears the heat is on the way with temps hovering near 90 for several days next week and everybody’s favorite–humidity–will join the party.

Welcome to summer—have an awesome Holiday Weekend–be safe, stay classy.
