At the end of May, when we had a string of warm days, I thought we had just time-warped straight into summer without much of a spring.  It seems as though spring-like weather has made a comeback for the first couple of weeks of June, and today was a reminder that it is still Astronomical Spring (the Summer Solstice is still just over a week away).  While the rain and storms were expected today, I really thought the temps would be warmer.  At least we didn’t have any severe weather pop up today; no warnings or storm reports to talk about.  Of course, Mother Nature has a mind of her own!  Still, I can’t help but get a little bummed out when the forecast doesn’t turn out like I thought it would.  Sitting in the upper 50s and low 60s as I write this blog, I’m disappointed with the forecast I gave for 12 straight hours yesterday.  Reading the social media comments of “you got it wrong!” makes me feel like: *Sigh* It happens. Let’s move on…

The showers and storms that moved through earlier were in response to a warm front… but the temps were crushed by the showers and persistent cloud cover.  I do think that we will see temps rise slightly as we move into the overnight hours, until a cold-front moves through around daybreak.  This cold front has the potential to pop a few more showers, and possibly even an isolated storm, early on.  That’s really our last chance to squeeze out any raindrops, as we’re in for a dry week ahead.  Expect a mix of clouds and sun for Sunday, with temps getting into the low to mid 70s around mid-day.  While most of us stay dry tomorrow, the real headline for Sunday will be the WIND. The cold front will usher in a shift in wind direction (from the SW to the WNW) and gusts will get between 30-40mph.

It’s still breezy and relatively cool heading into Monday (highs in the upper 60s to near 70)…. but can I skip over the specific details for that day and focus on the rest of the week?  :c)  Tuesday-Thursday feature mostly sunny skies and a warming trend.  Our next run at 80° highs will be on Wednesday (away from the coastline).  Bottom line, it’s felt a lot like spring lately… but SUMMER IS COMING.  Hang in there. – Breezy
