How about those numbers yesterday? After going almost 8 months in the city of Boston without 80 degree weather, a late-day west wind kicked out the sea breeze and sent the temps soaring to 88 at 4:40pm at Logan Airport… where the official temps for the city are recorded. Although, earlier in the afternoon, it was certainly well into the 80s across much of Boston as both Back Bay and Fenway were much warmer than Logan early to mid afternoon. Inland, temps were very warm as well, upper 80s to near 90 for many. Welcome back summer!
The great thing about yesterday’s warm weather, was the breeze and low humidity made it a comfortable warmth. With low humidity, the temps fell back into the 50s and 60s overnight, allowing for a comfortable start to the day.
Today, once again feels like summer. Highs reach the mid to upper 80s inland and temps hold in the 70s at the coast. Most of the day, Boston will be in the 70s, but may crack 80 near dinner time again when the sea breeze weakens. Much of the day stays dry, however, an afternoon pop up shower inland can’t be ruled out.
Grilling and chilling this weekend? More dry hours than wet, but occasionally we’ll have to duck inside. Here’s what I’m thinking…
Friday: Warm and a bit muggy, a pop up shower/storm in a few towns near and northwest of 495. Mid to upper 80s inland. Cooler Coast.
Saturday: The heat is on! Lower 90s, localized sea breeze, 70s to near 80 Cape Ann and Cape Cod. Late-day or evening storm possible, but lots of dry hours.
Sunday: Tricky temp forecast as a backdoor front sparks a few isolated storms. Highs 80s inland, 60s to 70 at the coast. Best chance for afternoon showers/storms will be west of Worcester.
Monday: Close call with some showers sneaking in from the south. I wouldn’t rule a few showers out, but still lean to more dry than wet. Near 80.
