It’s just a matter of time at this point, right? The colder air comes in, and then we wait for some flakes to fly in the forecast. Tomorrow morning, a batch of light snow will likely work on through, dropping those flakes for many towns across the area. Although not a big storm, a coating to an inch of snow is enough to create some slick spots for the morning commute, especially to the northwest of Boston. Patchy light snow starts to overspread the area by 6-7am with temps well below freezing, and lingers into midday. However, by midday, temps warm above freezing, so road conditions shouldn’t be much of an issue, including for the evening commute. We’ll likely even see a few leftover snow showers early in the afternoon to transition into some light rain showers near the coast and south of the Pike.

December weather continues to settle in this week with another punch of a wintry mix Tuesday night and early Wednesday with locations northwest of 495 likely picking up minor snow/ice accumulations by Wednesday morning.  Farther east, it’ll likely be just a few leftover rain showers Wednesday morning closer to the coast.

Thursday afternoon and Thursday night brings another round of rain showers that’ll transition to snow showers inland as colder air pours in. That cold air keeps on coming Friday into next weekend with a gusty northwest wind. Highs on Saturday struggle to get much above the freezing mark! Winter is upon us!
