Waking up this morning, you might have thought today was a complete loss.  Unfortunately, several Memorial Day events were either canceled or moved inside due to the heavy rain.  Rain totals were impressive in SE Massachusetts, with a report in Plymouth coming in at 2.55″!  We need the rain, but the timing was just awful.  I said several times this weekend that the day would not be a “complete washout,” and that proved true for this afternoon!  In my forecast for the later hours of this day, I predict the smell of dinner cooking on a nearby grill.  If you had cookout plans tonight, grill on!  BUT, be weather aware…

We could have some more showers and storms on the way.  As I type, those storms are just west of Albany, NY – tracking to the east.  Some of these storms could be strong and even marginally close to “severe” criteria.  What this mean is, it’s worth watching as we head through the evening hours until about 10pm.  I do think that the most likely areas to get these storms will be in western Massachusetts; west of Worcester County.  However, I can’t rule out the chance that some of these stronger storm cells hold together to make it into Worcester County.  These storms are expected to weaken as they track farther east, so it’s not likely that anything holds together long enough to make it inside of 495.

There’s a slight chance of showers early tomorrow morning across the South Coast, but then we’ll kick out the clouds and enjoy sunshine!  Can you extend this long weekend just one more day?  *cough, cough* Maybe you’re not feeling so well???  Just kidding!  I would never condone calling in sick when you’re not sick!  Or would I??  :c)  If you dig the heat, tomorrow is your day.  After that, we’re back to seasonable temps; highs right around 70°.  What’s more, is that our air is coming off of the cool ocean water (out of the ENE), keeping the coastline in the low 60s.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend making memories with your loved-ones!  Thank you to all of those who have made sacrifices for us so that we could do so.
