BOSTON (WHDH) - The weather for some of us today will be all over the place as we start of this Thursday morning with a few sprinkles. We’ll have our breaks of sun too, only to watch some more pop-up showers and thunderstorms to fire this afternoon. Not everyone will see wet weather later today as most of the action takes place west of 495.
As cold air aloft moves in and contrasts with the daytime heating near the surface, that temperature difference helps fuels the scattered shower and thunderstorm development. Although severe weather is not expected, a few showers/storms may contain gusty winds and very small hail. Inside 495, it’s possible for an isolated shower or storm to move in, but that’s most likely to happen late-day, like after 6pm for most eastern Mass towns. Highs today range from near 60 at the coast to 65-70 inland.

Friday and Saturday are warmer and dry with temps into the low to mid 70s, 60s along the immediate coast. Saturday afternoon features thickening clouds and eventually a decent shot of rain by Saturday night and Sunday morning. Gusty winds may develop by Sunday morning along the SE Mass coast too. We could use the rain for sure around here, and how much of it will be dictated by how close that coastal low comes to southern New England.
Have a good one!
