Ready, get set, throw on some layers! Plan on a cold couple of days…starting now. Temperatures this morning are cooler than yesterday, but that’s just the beginning of the story. We’re starting our your Thursday with windy weather that will continue throughout the day, actually becoming more gusty as we head into tonight. A cold front tracked to our east early this morning, and this will cause temperatures to continue to fall into the low-20s and upper teens as we head into the afternoon. We could also see a few flurries associated with this front, but don’t significant in terms of accumulation.
By 5 PM this evening, most of Massachusetts is under a High Wind Warning, with wind gusts reaching 40-60 mph into the late evening hours. Winds this high could cause some scattered power outage, and could definitely ruin some outdoor holiday decorations.
While this warning wraps up at 5 AM Friday morning, dangerous cold stays with us as this arctic front we’ve been talking about finally tracks through New England. From midnight tonight through 9AM tomorrow we’re also under a Wind Chill Advisory as this front ushers in frigid air and windy conditions. During this time wind chills could dip down from -10° to -25°, making Friday morning commutes VERY cold.
Saturday morning looks to be another messy one, with the chance for snow through the morning, transitioning over to rain and eventually light drizzle. Here’s a peak at early snowfall total projections:
