CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - A car rolled into the Charles River after being hit by another car in Cambridge overnight on Monday.

One car was hit in a two-car crash at Memorial Drive and River Street sometime around 1 a.m. Monday morning, causing it to roll into the Charles.

The driver inside of the rolling car escaped before the car drifted into the water.

Officials from the Cambridge Fire Department dove in to retrieve the car from the river and finished removing it before 3 a.m.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
