FALMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A teen on Cape Cod has been committed to a mental health facility after Falmouth Police received a tip on a school shooting threat.

On Saturday morning, police received a tip on a school threat that ended with “suicide by cop.”

The threat included references to the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, in which 49 people were killed.

Officers located a 17-year-old at his home in East Falmouth.

Police said the teen had claimed to have access to multiple firearms and an explosive device but he was only found with an Airsoft Replica Pistol and several knives.

Police searched the home and found a shotgun and two rifles that were all properly secured.

The teen was transported to Falmouth Hospital for a mental health evaluation and has since been committed to a mental health facility by the Falmouth District Court.

Police said none of the threats were specific to a particular school, but all schools were notified of the threat.
