BOSTON (WHDH) - The bombings in the metro New York area have brought back disturbing memories to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings but the FBI said there are no connections between the two attacks.

Earlier reports claimed one of the pressure cooker bombs found in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea contained a note that referenced the Tsarnaev brothers and the Boston bombings. FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Harold Shaw denied the report and said there is no connection.

“At this point, I have no information that would indicate any association or reference to the Tsarnaevs at this point in time,” said Shaw.

The FBI is working with local and state police to ensure the public’s safety in the wake of the bombings in New York City and New Jersey. The Boston Police Department has also increased patrols around the city.
