MIAMI (WHDH) - A Florida couple was arrested after police said they were found unconscious in their car with two young children in the back seat.
Police said the car was found blocking traffic in a busy travel lane in Miami. Inside the car, police said the driver and adult passenger were fast asleep. In the back seat, police said they found a 2-year-old and 2-month-old in the back seat. Both were hungry and dirty. The adults were woken up by paramedics.
Police said the initial call came in as a possible drug overdose but it is unclear what exactly happened. Paramedics did not administer drug antidotes and no other medical treatment was given.
The car was towed away and the two adults were taken into custody and charged with child neglect. The woman was also charged with illegally operating a vehicle. The two children are now in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
