NEWTON, MASS. (WHDH) - One eastbound lane remains closed on Route 9 in Newton after a car crashed into a telephone pole Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at around 11 a.m. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to pull the passenger out of the car. Both the driver and passenger were taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital; one of the victims suffered serious injuries.
Mass State Police said the right lane of Route 9 East remains closed, but the left lane is now open. Newton Fire say the lane will remain closed through the evening commute. Drivers are urged to seek an alternate route.
