BOSTON (WHDH) - MBTA passengers were forced to walk down the tracks in the dark on the Orange Line after it had to be shutdown Thursday night.

Shuttle buses replaced trains between Ruggles and Forest Hills due to police activity for a few hours.

Late Thursday night passengers experienced severe delays.

Rush hour commuters should not experience any delays Friday morning.

According to MBTA Transit Police, Boston Police were looking for a man suspected of stealing a car who they believed had run out onto the tracks.

At one point police towed a car away from the scene.

They were able to clear the scene around midnight.
