AUBURN, N.H. (WHDH) - A man was seriously injured after a power boat struck a kayak on Lake Massabesic in Auburn, New Hampshire according to New Hampshire state police.

Police received a 911 call shortly before 6:00 a.m. Saturday reporting the incident.

The kayaker, 57-year-old Craig Daniels of Derry, New Hampshire was fishing and adjusting one of his trolling lines in open water when he was struck by a 16 foot Tracker power boat.

The operator of the power boat was identified as 47-year-old Timothy Clougherty of Candia, New Hampshire.

Daniels was ejected into the water from the “sit-on” style kayak, and sustained serious internal injuries.

Clougherty, along with the help of several good Samaritans, helped Daniels into his boat and took him to the Deer Neck Bridge car-top launch, where emergency personnel met them.

According to police, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
