Edgewood, MD (CNN) — Swimming great Michael Phelps spread a little holiday cheer Friday outside Baltimore.
Phelps and his wife visited The Boys and Girls Club in Edgewood for lunch.
The Olympic gold medalist answered questions from the kids, presented them with gifts and presented The Boys and Girls Club with a $20,000 donation.
“I was probably, actually i was a little teary eyed out there,” said Phelps, “just looking at the excitement in their faces because that’s the best feeling for me.”
Since retiring from competition, Phelps said he is focusing more on promoting swimming and water safety as well as charity.
